Greeting from the principal

I wholeheartedly love Japan.

Since I was young, through my Japanese-Brazilian friends in my home country of Brazil, I had the opportunity to experience the Japanese language and culture, which captivated me with its beauty. During my middle and high school years, I attended a Japanese language school, and in both undergraduate and graduate studies, I specialized in Japanese language education. After becoming a working professional, and before becoming the principal here, I had been teaching Japanese language at Seibu Bunri University of Hospitality for 8 years.

Our school’s main goal is to educate future leaders capable of guiding the international society towards peace and prosperity. We strongly believe that the best way to achieve this goal is to focus on the education of the hospitality mind-set. Our School motto is: “Sincerity, Trust and Service”. There is a reason for this specific order. This is how I explain our motto to new students:

First: Live sincerely to others and especially to yourself (Sincerity)
Then: People will trust you for who you really are, as a result of your sincere actions (Trust)
Finally: the leader is the honest, trusting person who lends a helping hand, and doesn’t act solely based on self-gain (Service)

Those educated and guided towards being capable of living honestly without deceit are the ones who are trusted by people who surround them. As a result, they become leaders, who serve not only themselves but the whole community.

I consider fostering individuals who embody these spirits and can promote the charms of Japan to the world as the primary educational goal of this institution. The world is rapidly changing, and the field of education is also evolving at an accelerated pace to align with these changes. What do young people living in this era of change need? The ability to effectively use learning tools, the ability to collaborate with diverse companions, and the international perspective that this institution has provided to children over the past 40 years are undoubtedly important. However, these alone are not enough to lead a fulfilling life or to preserve this beautiful Japanese tradition, further evolve it, and share it with others.

Therefore, this institution will continue to guarantee academic abilities that serve as the foundation of thinking and judgment and will also focus on developing the qualities and skills that will be indispensable in the future society. Concretely, I strive daily so that children can acquire the following four abilities:

1. The ability to utilize AI and IT skills, which will have a significant impact on social and domestic life throughout the 21st century, providing them with tools to create a new world (Development of Digital Citizenship).

2. The ability to identify problems on their own, propose solutions based on solid data and logic, listen sincerely to the opinions of their companions, and think critically (Development of Communication Skills).)

3. The ability to engage and learn from people with diverse cultural backgrounds, confidently express opinions in languages other than their own, and promote the charms of Japan to the world (Development of International Competence).)

4. The ability to perceive difficulties and problems as opportunities for improvement, maintain physical, mental, and social well-being (Development of Holistic Life Skills).

To cultivate these four abilities, this institution implements a "student-centered education" and a "research-based learning" approach. We aim to provide students with an environment where they can actively learn and fearlessly challenge questions without definitive answers. Furthermore, we will increase study abroad programs and overseas internships every year, hoping that the students of this institution will promote the charms of Japan to the world. Additionally, by inviting international students from various countries, we aim to create an environment within the school where students can experience the international community.

With a hospitality mind-set, my dream is to nurture talents who can thrive at the forefront of the ever-changing world. Let's work together to make Seibu Bunri a reference school in the world!
